Project 2: Collage, Silhouette and lettering
In this project, we were supposed to make a collage of
images about a person inside of a cutout of that person, and also make an
outline of that person that describes said person. The objective of the lab was
to see if we could use what we learned so far, it was to get us more familiar
with things such as masks.
Collage: I started by duplicating the picture of the person,
then I made a selection of the person I chose. I would delete the person. Now I
would import the images I was using for the collage. I would drag the images
below the cutout, using the layer’s tab on the right-side panel. Then I would
align them and save.
Outline: I started by duplicating the picture of the person,
then I made a selection of the person I chose. This time I would go to
Select>Inverse, this allows me to delete everything except the person. Now I
would go back and do Select>Inverse again, to select the person. Then I use
the Horizontal Type tool to write 4-5 things about the person. Now double click
the T icon on the layer’s panel, then CTRL+C, re-select your person, go to the
path tab and click the hamburger menu at the middle right corner, and click
“Make Word Path”. A popup will have a number “2.0” change it “1.0”. Now go back
to the layer’s tab and disable all layers, there will be an outline in the
shape of your selection, double click it, then spam CTRL+V until the outline is
completely full. Now I changed the size and length till it fit the outline
completely. Now you just make a new layer and add a solid colour. This will go
under the text but above the pictures of the person. We used Adobe Photoshop
CS6. This is relevant to Web Design because it will teach us methods of editing
that we will use to make our web pages more appealing. I see myself using this
in the future for when I would need to make an appealing design for a banner on
a webpage or something similar.
