LAB 1 : Melon Head
In this lab we were to make a face with fruits. We had to get perfect selections with the tools we had available/ knowledge of during the project, things such as the lasso tools, and quick selection tool, and marquee tools. The objective of this lab was to show us how to use the tools in Photoshop to make selections and help us get a better understanding of our work space. We used tools such as the Elliptical Marquee Tool, Lasso Tool,Magnetic Lasso Tool, Quick Selection Tool, and Magic Want Tool.
I completed the assignment, by using the selection tool first to get the majority of the image, and then use the lasso tool to get anything that I had missed. I would then copy that selection to a new layer and start refining my selection by using the magnetic lasso tool to get perfect edges on my selection. If the object was circular I would use the Elliptical Marquee Tool first, and select the circular fruit. Copy it to a new layer and use the magnetic lasso tool to get any unwanted white spots. I would move the fruit to the corresponding areas and then save as .psd and export as .jpg. The software we used was Adobe Photoshop CS6. This is relevant to Web Design because it gives us an understanding of our work space, and it lets us know how to use a photo editing software in a form of visual media that would require imagery to capture the attention of the viewer. I see my self using these skills to make assets that I would need in the project I would work on.
