Project 4 : Logo & Business Cards

   In this project, Project 4, we were assigned with the task to make our very own business cards. The objective of the lab was to show us how to design our own business cards, make them look good and enticing to the customer. I did this by starting off with three logos, based off of drawing we had to make and then import into photoshop. Afterwards we would edit the pictures, add colours, just make them look good in general. For this I went with a minimalist design, keeping the design relatively simple. I chose this design because I am a big fan of the new flat designs that more companies now are adopting, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. We would then after finishing the logos, go into Adobe InDesign and make the layout of the business cards. We have to have had, 9 business cards made since, there are three logos and each logo has 3 cards of their own. After this we had to print out the cards and start work on the board. We have to glue/tape everything to the poster board and make it look nice.
In this project, we used Adobe Photoshop CS6, and InDesign (version unknown).  This is relevant to web design because we need to know about how to get people to use our business, instead of another one, and entice them for future business, by making a professional looking business card which will make them trust us more. I see myself using these in the future to make a professional business card to entice them into having business with me instead of an opposing company/business.

In this project, we were supposed to make a collage of images about a person inside of a cutout of that person, and also make an outline of that person that describes said person. The objective of the lab was to see if we could use what we learned so far, it was to get us more familiar with things such as masks. Collage: I started by duplicating the picture of the person, then I made a selection of the person I chose. I would delete the person. Now I would import the images I was using for the collage. I would drag the images below the cutout, using the layer’s tab on the right-side panel. Then I would align them and save. Project 3 : Restore Old Photograph

   In this lab we were supposed to edit a damaged image with the tools we used in lab 8 which were, spot healing tool, healing tool, patch tool, etc. The objective of the lab was to teach us how to use tools to fix an image that was damaged. I completed this by using the healing tool to get rid of the damage in the background. I then would go and fix the bottom of the picture with the blanket or something similar, for this I would use the patch tool, healing tool, and spot healing tool. Then I would use the same tools to work on the colour damage. After that I started work on the eyes, and then finished the hair.    We used Adobe Photoshop CS6. This is relevant to web design because we may have to fix images in our line of work depending on the way we work and what type of work we do. I see myself using these skills to fix images that I need to use for a webpage or just as a business in general.

LAB 7 : Filters

   In this lab we were supposed to use two images, make 4 duplicates of 1 image and keep the single image of the other, and then we were suppose to apply different filters to them. The objective of the lab was to teach us how to use the filters properly. I completed the task by making a new file that is 800px by 600px with a resolution of 400. Then I placed the 2 photos I chose, and duplicated one of them 4 times. Then I arranged them in a 2x6 grid. I selected the first picture, went to Filters>Filter Gallery>Artistic>Cutout, then adjusted the settings clicked OK and moved on to the next copy (Right of the Cutout). I went back the filter gallery and went to the Distort drop menu and used the Glow Diffuse adjusted settings clicked OK and moved to the next copy. For this copy go back to the Filter Gallery and this time go to brushed strokes, and use the Angled Strokes filter adjust settings, and click OK.
